The introduction of PLUGA submersible pumps began as a dream of our late Chairman Shri M V Joshi. In the 1960s, when submersible pumps were practically unknown, he introduced the concept of submersibles in India. Submersible pumps were a key driver in ground water irrigation which enabled the agricultural revolution in India. Mr. M V Joshi went on to become the President of the Indian Pump Manufacturer's Association (IPMA) and led many delegations all over the world.
In 1987, Mr. M V Joshi saw a new opportunity for the introduction of engineered plastic 100 mm (4") pumps to replace inefficient jet pumps and compressor pumps. This resulted in setting up a greenfield project with technical know-how to begin production of advanced technology New Generation 100 mm submersible pumps.
Today the pioneering spirit of PLUGA endures with ongoing investment in new products, technologies and facilities. The submersible pump range now covers 75 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm, and 200 mm diameters in a variety of constructions. The company has also added horizontal & vertical open-well submersible pumps, drainex pumps, and mini monoblock pumps to its portfolio and continues to expand its offering to meet needs in India and abroad. A new modern integrated factory at GIDC Savli, near Vadodara, Gujarat, was opened in 2013 to increase the supply of PLUGA pumpsets to meet the growing global demand.
With recognition for high quality and premium performance, the PLUGA dream has spread all over India & continues to be shared throughout the world.
